Messaging Tool Kit for Supporting LBGT Inclusive Curriculum and Policies
It isn’t always easy to build community support for schools that openly affirm people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender. When talking about sexual orientation or gender identity, emotions can run high, misconceptions can spread, and divisive politics sometimes can get in the way of doing what is best for students and families.
In 2009, GroundSpark convened a network of education, media, advocacy, religious, and civil rights organizations to work collaboratively to support school personnel who are grappling with these challenges.
After several years of on-the-ground experience, this network produced this messaging toolkit to support schools in their efforts to address stigma related to sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression.
Building Support for Schools that Openly Affirm the Diversity of Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity contains talking points, how-tos, and worksheets. With this groundbreaking resource, you can inspire your community to take action for schools that are more welcoming and affirming for people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender.
